The Schwalbe Marathon Winter Plus is the studded commuter tire for riding through a real winter: hundreds of carbide spikes bite into ice while the SmartGuard belt keeps flats away. On clear pavement it rolls surprisingly civilized — this is the tire that keeps commuters riding in January.

- SmartGuard casing provides best puncture protection in icy conditions and low pressure.
- Lamella tread and 240 spikes provide grip even under high-energy braking or tight turns.
- For best grip in icy conditions, use minimum pressure. On ice-free roads, higher pressure will reduce road noise.
- Note, new studded tires require a "bed-in period." Tires should be run in for approx. 40km (25 miles) on asphalt without heavy acceleration or braking to ensure studs are fully set. After this distance the tires can be ridden normally.
